What Every Human Longs Forfeatured
I have my places. The ones where people remember me. The places where people smile at me like they are looking straight into my soul instead of straight at the clothes I am wearing or the messy hairstyle that happens to land on my head that morning.
These are my favorite places. The places that know my name. The places where I can unwind without a care in the world.
I have read that someone’s name is the sweetest sound they can ever hear.
Think about it.
How do you feel when someone you just met says your name? How do you feel when the lady at the salon remembers your name with a smile on her face? How do you feel when a waiter greets you by your name before puling out your chair for you?
To be seen, to be heard, to be recognized in a sea of anonymity… isn’t this every human’s desire, our restaurant, our place, our spot? Where they know your name and you feel at home every. single. time. Like you can be yourself and they don’t dare judge you.
They remember you so they must “know” you on some level right?
They must know your favorite drink or dish. They must know that you like your hair a certain way. They must know that you like to train a specific way. They must know that you come to this same place so many times a year.
Every human longs to be be recognized on some level. To be understood is one of the most powerful connections we can make in this life. Because without that, we are nothing. Or at least it feels like we are.
When someone I talk to “gets” me, my eyes light up as much as my heart does. To learn that I am not the only person to feel a certain way helps validate what I already feel to be so true within myself.
It is my mission in life to make others feel seen.
I feel complete when I can empower others to reach their full potential. While I am no certified teacher, I know I was put on this earth to help others see the beauty that resides within them. There’s something about seeing that “aha” moment in others that moves me. That moment when they realize they can do more than they ever thought possible.
I have helped people write over the years. Second graders, college students, master’s students, authors on the verge of publishing their first books. I have never done the work for them but I have always given them the optimism they were lacking from within. Self doubt can murder the soul. Some like to call me a cheerleader. There’s more to it than that.
I know everyone needs to feel great in order to create greatness. I know how to lead others to their most genuine selves. I am not always successful but when I am I can’t help but be inspired myself. I feed off of other people’s belief in themselves. Because this belief is what can change the world.
I give this gift away because I have never felt seen or heard myself.
I have felt like the outcast most of my life. I know what is like to not be the best at anything growing up. I also know that my best teachers, academic and spiritual, were those who could see me. The ones who told me that my words were powerful enough to move them, to bring them to their knees. The ones that told me that my spirit could light up a room. That my smile and kind words turned their entire day around.
And that’s exactly why I am writing this right now. I want to help anyone who is currently looking for themselves. My blog is not famous. My words are nothing extraordinary. They aren’t meant to be. But I can see you. I feel what you feel. Most importantly, I can help you find yourself if you have lost yourself for a brief moment in time.
Why?
Because I have been lost many a times. I have seen rock bottom. And I know what comes next. And it is beautiful.
Talk to me if you need me. You know where to find me.
Namaste – the light in me sees the light in you.
Love Deeply and Forever,
Karen
